What Affects Your Results
No two tattoos are the same and no two removal journeys are identical. Several factors influence how many sessions are needed and how effectively ink is cleared.
Ink Depth & Density
Professional tattoos are applied deeper and with denser ink than amateur ones. This means they are often longer-lasting but can take more sessions to fully clear.
Ink Colour
Black and dark inks absorb all laser wavelengths and respond fastest. Certain colours, especially greens, blues and yellows, require specific wavelengths and more sessions.
Tattoo Age
Older tattoos often fade more easily because ink naturally disperses over time. Newer tattoos may take slightly more sessions before significant fading is visible.
Skin Tone
Lighter skin tones tend to respond faster as there is less melanin to absorb laser energy. Darker skin tones can still be treated effectively with the correct laser settings.
Immune System & Lifestyle
Your immune system is what removes broken down ink after each session. Exercise, hydration and not smoking all support faster clearance between treatments.
Tattoo Location
Areas with better circulation, such as the upper arm or torso tend to clear more quickly than the hands, feet or ankles.
Ink Colour & Removal
Different ink colours absorb laser energy differently. Black and dark inks tend to respond the quickest. Lighter colours may need more sessions.
What to Expect
Your Removal Journey
Sessions are typically spaced 6–8 weeks apart to allow your body time to naturally clear the broken-down ink particles. Most clients begin to see visible fading after their first session. Every tattoo is unique. During your consultation we'll assess your tattoo and give you a personalised treatment
Initial Fading Begins
Visible lightening can start after the first treatment. Your immune system begins flushing away the tiny ink particles broken down by the laser over the following weeks.
Significant Clearance
By this stage most tattoos show noticeable fading. Dark inks usually respond fastest, while coloured or dense tattoos may fade more gradually.
Final Clearance
Remaining ink continues to fade as your body clears pigment after each treatment. Larger, coloured or heavily saturated tattoos may require additional sessions for full removal.

Book Free ConsultationMost clients describe it as similar to a rubber band snap. Sessions are short, so any discomfort is brief and manageable.
This depends on several factors including the size, colour, age and depth of your tattoo, as well as your skin type. During your free consultation, we will give you a realistic estimate based on your individual tattoo. Most clients require between 3 and 10 sessions.
Treatment sessions typically take between 15 and 45 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo. Smaller tattoos can be treated in as little as 10 minutes.
Sessions are spaced a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks apart. This allows your immune system time to clear broken down ink particles and your skin to fully heal before the next treatment.
There is minimal downtime. You may experience some redness, mild swelling or minor blistering in the days following treatment, this is a normal part of the healing process. Full aftercare instructions are provided after every session.
Black and dark inks respond most effectively to laser treatment. Coloured inks can also be treated, though some colours, particularly greens, blues and yellows may require more sessions or specific wavelengths. This is assessed during your free consultation.
Yes. A patch test is mandatory before your first treatment session. This ensures your skin responds safely to the laser and allows us to calibrate the correct settings for your skin type and tattoo. The patch test is completely free.
For many clients, significant fading or full removal is achievable. However, results vary depending on the tattoo and individual factors. We always set honest, realistic expectations during your consultation, not every tattoo can be guaranteed to fully disappear, but visible improvement is expected from every course of treatment.
